David R. Whitney

I’m searching for light-roasted coffee with fruity flavor notes. At home I have the most success brewing as a pour over and tend to ask for that method at coffee shops. My focus is narrow, and my reviews are reflective of that. I use my own ratings system.

Misha’s Coffee

Great views of the Potomac from a rooftop patio in the heart of Old Town Alexandria and serves a delicious nitro cold brew.

Grace Street Coffee

This shop in Georgetown offers delicious pour overs in a variety of single origin roasts. Their Wush Wush has everything I’m looking for. Rating: [9/9]

Hilton Head Island Coffee Roasters

This shop roasted a single-origin from Costa Rica that tasted great, and the bike and island theme fit well.

Nitro Cold Brew at Stumptown

My first nitro cold brew was at Stumptown Coffee Roasters in Portland, Oregon. I was instantly hooked on this creamy, smooth version of cold-brewed coffee.

Clover Coffee Brewer

In 2008 when I tried it, the Clover coffee brewer produced the finest examples of brewed coffee I had ever tasted.
